Gdansk
The Royal Route
Dluga and Dlugi Targ Streets, which form Trakt Krolewski (the Royal Route), are rated among the most beautiful streets in Gdansk. The oldest houses of those which have survived here were built in the Middle Ages, but most of the buildings date from modern times. The most significant secular buildings of the Main City, including the Main Town Hall and Artus Court, can be found on Dlugi Targ Street.

The Golden Gate
Built between 1612-1614 to a design of Abraham van den Blocke in the Renaissance style. Stone sculptures of the attic were carved by Peter Ringering in 1648. They are an allegorical presentation of the civic virtues: Prudence, Justice, Piety and Harmony.

The Main Town Hall
The most impressive and the most valuable building of old Gdansk, the seat of the municipal authorities. It was built from 1379 to 1492. At the end of the 16th century, a sundial was placed on one of its corners. The most impressive Great Council Hall is considered one of the richest hall interiors. The ceiling of the hall is decorated with 25 paintings with a symbolic meaning, created by Izaak van den Blocke.

The Neptune Fountain
The Neptune Fountain, which has stood in front of Artus Court since 1633, is a symbol of Gdansk. The figure of Neptune refers to Gdansk’s connections with the sea.

Artus Court
First mentioned in historical sources in 1350. The current look dates from 1617. Decorated with statues of Greek gods and heroes. A meeting place for the rich townspeople and patricians, who formed a kind of town council. The greatest monument of the court is the biggest tiled stove in Europe - 10.64 metres high, decorated with 520 tiles.

The Crane
It is the biggest port crane of medieval Europe and one of the most characteristic buildings of Gdansk. Located on the Motlawa River, it was used for trans-shipment of goods and setting sails on ships. At the same time, it served as a gate to the city.

The Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary
The Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary, which is the largest brick church in Europe, was built in the period 1343-1502. There are many excellent pieces of medieval and baroque art inside the church. The 77.6 metre high, massive tower is crowned with an observation gallery with a panoramic view of the city.

Foregate to Dluga Street (Torture House and Prison Tower)
The Prison Tower and the Torture House constitute the medieval foregate complex of Dluga Street. It houses the Amber Museum, which is a part of the Gdansk History Museum.
